Why Choose Le Sud
Classical French technique, Auckland kitchen

Our Chef
Trained at Le Cordon Bleu
Chef Sunita trained in French pastry at Le Cordon Bleu, where the discipline is unforgiving: choux piped to a consistent size, crème pâtissière cooked to the right set, macarons aged until the shell and filling settle into one texture.
That training is why our patisserie is made in small batches and finished by hand — and why we'd rather bake to order than hold stock in a chiller.

In Their Words
What Auckland says
"Thank you Sunita for the most wonderful cake for my daughter. Everyone couldn't get enough of the red velvet. I have honestly never tasted cake like yours — the best ever."
"Absolutely beautiful and delicious. The presentation was stunning, and every bite was soft, moist and perfectly balanced in sweetness. I'll definitely be coming back."
"We've tried many cakes that also need to be nut-free and often found them dry. Le Sud's lemon cake was delicious. Would definitely recommend."

Good to Know
French patisserie questions
What is a croquembouche, and how is it served?
A croquembouche is a traditional French celebration centrepiece: around sixty choux pastries filled with vanilla crème pâtissière, stacked into a cone and bound with spun caramel. It serves roughly 30 to 40 guests as a dessert and is best ordered three days ahead.
How many macaron flavours do you offer?
Twelve. Our range runs from vanilla bean and dark chocolate to raspberry, salted caramel, pistachio, lemon, rose, coffee, passionfruit, coconut, hazelnut praline and boysenberry. Macarons come in boxes of six or twelve, and you can mix the flavours.
Is Chef Sunita actually Le Cordon Bleu trained?
Yes. Sunita trained in French pastry at Le Cordon Bleu, and the techniques from that training — choux, crème pâtissière, macaronage, tempered chocolate and spun sugar — are the foundation of everything we bake here in Auckland.
What are friands, and how are yours made?
Friands are small French almond cakes, baked until the edges caramelise and the centre stays soft. Ours are made with ground almonds, browned butter and seasonal fruit, and come boxed in twelves.
Can I order French gateaux and patisserie for a celebration?
Yes. Alongside celebration cakes we bake French-style gateaux and layered patisserie — tell us the occasion and guest count on your quote request and we'll suggest what works best.
Do you deliver patisserie across Auckland?
We do, and macarons and friands travel well. Delivery is priced by driving distance from our kitchen and is confirmed before you pay; you're also welcome to collect by appointment.
